It is going quite ‘all right’ with Joop (her own words) despite her slow decline. The girls are helping with the laundry while John fixes the garden. Keeping up the correspondence with the family overseas is a little lifeline for Joop

Letter to Arie and Riek where Joop thanks them for their financial support. She cannot perform her household tasks as she’d used to do and relegates it to Johannie. Nevertheless her faith keeps her in an upbeat mood
